Does God Exist?
Big question. Hard complications. Heavy and deep thoughts. Loud yelling. Bloody arguments.
I can't quite say that I am a religious person. I was born in Vietnam, which would make my childhood religion some form of Buddhism. I never quite understood how it worked though. Even today, I still don't. So at this point, I think it's safe to say that I consider myself an agnostic. Agnosticism, the cowardly brother to atheism. I know this sounds really stupid...but meh, I gots nuthin' better to do.

However, that doesn't stop me from wasting my time speculating on possibilities. Somewhere inside, I feel that there is something--not necessarily the human concept of "God" or gods per se--but some behind-the-scenes force that governs the universe. Seriously, has anyone wondered what, or who, keeps the world in such symmetry? What or who made the laws of physics? What or who commands quantum mechanic's probability engine? What or who coerces every piece of matter to follow its rules? Is there a way to deny or ignore those rules? What are the rules? I don't even know what the questions mean: What or who? This is complex stuff.
In any case, my concept of that unknown something that's beyond our perceptions imposing rules on us has lead to a somewhat satiric reply yesterday from that voice inside my head. We only have to perceive god as a manifestation of luck--the improbable, but not quite the impossible.
It explains a lot. Luck is that little something that sparks hope, which every desperate person needs. That's why there are so many people buying lottery tickets. They hope for a little luck. People pray for a little luck. Hope is something that people give themselves, but that possibility of luck is what gives it external emphasis. Luck is what powers the probability machine of the quantum world, and luck is what everyone wants. Do you really need to beg for anything else other than luck? Luck gives everything you want, or don't yet know you want.
Is that the reason why the all-powerful god theory has taken such a high number of followers? Because the only thing an all-powerful god needs is endless luck? If he isn't omnipotent, luck could strike down his enemies for him. If he isn't omnipresent, luck could bring him to the most important place he needs to be. If he isn't omniscient, luck could allow him to guess events correctly.
Oh...but the religious fanatics won't like it. Lady luck is a lady after all. Maybe God is a female. With all that luck, I betcha she's hot.
Anyway, with my theory, the answer to 'Does God Exist?' is answered with: improbable, but not impossible. I, however, doubt the concept that 'God' is a gray-bearded old man that lives in heaven...
