Storm
Did I write this during hurricane Ike? I don't remember. Looks like it was at least inspired by the storm though.

Death in the sky,
the earth gone mad!
Heavens in darkened storm,
the clouds blazing blue fire,
light the endless night.
Seas insanely frothing,
foams along its shore.
Sands surging, back and forth,
up, down, left, right, back again,
to the reckless waves.
Dunes billowing,
in the wind.
Trees torn of autumn colors,
branches bare along the mud.
Grasses biting ground,
grip hard, rooted strings below.
Shrubs clinging,
to the sod.
Animals scurrying,
teeth, jaw, fur, claw,
tail, shell, plume, scale,
scattering.
Droplets fired from all directions,
instruments of deathly doom,
no target but misfortune leads,
woven path through air.
Unpredictable, both luck and weather,
perchance I see such sights again,
I shall document it altogether.
Now amidst this dangerous horror,
in this sheltered home,
(Death is near,
I am aware.)
Yet I lay and sleep
without fear.
