Grass
I don't really understand why some people are so obsessed with lawns. They spend so much time and effort to keep it green and pretty, but it doesn't do anything. You can't really eat it. You can't really use it. It's only there for display. Personally, I don't think a green patch is pretty, but meh, I guess it's the norm for houses nowadays.

A blade of grass is merely
a slender leaf,
the child of a starved weed
upon the ground.
Ever-reaching for
the warmth of the sun.
Ever-wishing for
a misty breeze.
Ever-waiting for
a cleansing rain.
Never touching the skies
as the leaves of trees do.
But ever so slender and thin,
this starved child
of a weed
upon the ground.
Oh poor child so thin and trim,
thrown on display
in the lawn outside,
forced to endure
the ghastly weather:
sleet and snow,
and wind and rain,
and summer's sun
and dog poo too.
Stepped on
without regard.
Trod on
without appreciation.
Laid on
without embrace.
Yet the child
maintains this flimsy form,
claiming the false grace it entails.
It is a pity,
no,
more of a shame,
that
no one desires
an overgrown weed
on the ground.
